Finding Work for the Disabled

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Employment Services Division at Helping People Succeed, (HPS) recently announced changes to the “Ticket to Work” program.

Millions of disabled and blind Americans receive Social Security (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments but also seek independent employment. Many of these disabled people also get Medicare or Medicaid assistance. Until recently, the Social Security Administration programs required these individuals to forfeit all government benefits if they became employed. Obviously, many were reluctant to give up the medical benefits they rely on so heavily.
